The role

As a Recruitment and Resourcing Advisor, you will play a key role in delivering a high-quality recruitment service that directly supports the operational needs of Natural Resources Wales (NRW). You will provide expert advice and guidance to hiring managers and colleagues across the organisation, ensuring the consistent and effective application of recruitment and resourcing policies.

Acting as a trusted partner, you will ensure effective delivery of NRW’s recruitment process, from defining role requirements and advertising, to selection and onboarding, while promoting best practice, fairness and inclusivity at every step. You will also contribute to continuous improvement activities, identifying opportunities to enhance service delivery and candidate experience.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider People and Organisational Development function, you will help ensure NRW recruits the right people, at the right time, with the right skills to support our long-term goals and the delivery of our 2030 vision: Nature and People Thriving Together.

As an organisation we support flexible working. You will be contracted to the nearest NRW office to your home and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment. Any regular face to face meetings or training will be planned in advance.

What you will do

  • Deliver the full recruitment lifecycle, including attraction, shortlisting and interviewing, by providing expert advice to ensure a fair, effective and compliant process in line with NRW policies and Civil Service Recruitment Principles.
  • Lead and manage recruitment for a range of vacancies, including senior and specialist roles, proactively sourcing candidates through a variety of platforms and innovative approaches to support inclusive recruitment and positive action.
  • Design and deliver resourcing campaigns for internal and external audiences, using both traditional and digital media to reach target talent pools in a cost-effective and impactful manner.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers and staff on recruitment policies and procedures, promoting confidence and consistency in recruitment and selection practices.
  • Act as a trusted partner to managers, trade union representatives and Workforce Panels, building strong working relationships and promoting trust and collaboration across the organisation.
  • Ensure the accurate planning, coordination and governance of all recruitment activity, including compliance with internal approval processes and maintaining robust audit trails.
  • Support the delivery of an excellent candidate and hiring manager experience throughout the recruitment process, upholding NRW’s values and employer brand.
  • Review and quality assure role descriptions, ensuring alignment with organisational design principles and supporting job evaluation processes.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of NRW’s structure and roles across all directorates, ensuring recruitment activity is aligned to workforce needs.
  • Support the delivery and improvement of internal recruitment training programmes for managers and hiring teams.
  • Represent NRW at job fairs, careers events and other external engagements to promote the organisation as an employer of choice.
  • Champion equality, diversity, customer care and continuous improvement across all recruitment activities.
  • Undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post

Your qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills

In your application and interview you will be asked to demonstrate the following skills and experience using the STAR method.

  1. CIPD qualified (Level 5) / Associate Member of the CIPD or equivalent level HR Qualification. 
  2. Demonstrable knowledge and experience of delivering end-to-end recruitment processes.
  3. Experience working within a in-house recruitment environment, managing multiple roles, campaigns and volume recruitment while ensuring an exceptional customer experience for candidates and hiring managers.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to edit and write compelling and accurate recruitment documentation.
  5. Knowledge of the civil service recruitment principles, equalities legislation and employment law in relation to recruitment
  6. Ability to work effectively in a team-orientated environment while supporting managers on recruitment decisions.

  • Essential: B2
  • Desirable: C2
