The role

To develop and deliver effective integrated promotion of the Wales Coast Path and National Trails. This includes activity such as media relations, digital, social media, internal Comms, video production, branding and design.

As an organisation we support flexible working. You will be contracted to the nearest NRW office to your home and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment. Any regular face to face meetings or training will be planned in advance.

About us

You will be part of the corporate communications team, and work closely with colleagues working across a range of communications and external affairs disciplines. You will also work closely with the recreation policy and operational teams to promote all aspects of the Wales Coast Path and National Trails.

 

What you will do

  • Work closely with NRW’s Outdoor Access and Recreation Team on WCP and NT promotion.
  • Plan, develop, organise and co-ordinate promotion activity on the WCP and NTs for NRW.
  • Act as a primary contact for NRW for WCP and NT promotion, liaise and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, building relationships in support of outcome delivery.
  • Produce high-quality, engaging and effective content in support of WCP and NT promotion.
  • Deliver integrated Comms across all channels, with an audience/customer focus, working closely with the NRW Outdoor Access and Recreation team and other key partners
  • Contribute to development of creative campaigns and Comms plans.
  • Contribute to delivery of multiple projects or campaigns.
  • Contribute to incident response, including out of hours working.
  • Use insight to inform your approach.
  • Provide advice to the business in order to protect and promote the reputation and brands of the WCP, NTs and NRW more generally, either autonomously or with support from more senior team members when required. 
  • Be alert to reputational risks and escalate as appropriate
  • Undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post

Your qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills

In your application and interview you will be asked to demonstrate the following skills and experience using the STAR method.

  1. Some experience of working in a professional communications team of PR agency (at account executive level).
  2. Experience of working within the environmental and outdoor recreation and access sector
  3. Good level of skill across all promotion, marketing and communications disciplines and channels. 
  4. Member of relevant professional body and visible commitment to your own CPD (or be prepared to join).
  5. Good understanding of NRW's remit, roles, policies and priorities in order to be able to drive effective communications campaigns in support of these.
  6. Able to make sound judgement calls.
  7. You will be studying towards a professional qualification within your particular discipline or have a degree in a relevant subject or have the equivalent level of experience. 

Welsh language level requirements

  • Essential:   Level A1 – able to pronounce Welsh and use basic phrases
